La Cámara de Comercio, Turismo, Industria y Producción de Viedma lamenta profundamente el fallecimiento del Ing. Juan Bautista Gazia, “Pipo”. Una gran persona, ejemplo vital para otras muchas; y deseamos que su recuerdo permanezca y su trayectoria sea recordada. Enviamos nuestro sentido pésame a su familia.

Juan Bautista Gazia había nacido el 24 de junio de 1930 en Trenque Lauquen, provincia de Buenos Aires, por lo que recientemente cumplió 89 años de edad.

Su primer arribo a nuestra Comarca se produjo en 1946, con motivo del traslado de su padre a Patagones, como gerente del Banco de la Nación, incorporándose al tercer año del Colegio Nacional de Viedma, y recibiéndose de bachiller en 1948. Permaneció en nuestro medio siete años. Sus estudios superiores los cursó en Bahía Blanca, egresando en 1958 como ingeniero civil en la Universidad Nacional del Sur.

Años más tarde se radicó definitivamente en la Comarca, con la que siempre mantuvo contacto y donde en marzo de 1958 se casó con la maragata Gladis Banovsky, con quien cumplió 67 años de casados. El resultado de esta unión fue la llegada de tres hijos.

Laboral y profesionalmente desplegó aquí una amplia actividad, concretando ideas y proyectos, fruto de su perseverante espíritu emprendedor. En todos los casos se destacó por su gran vocación de servicio, lo cual, entre otros reconocimientos, le valió que hace cinco años el Rotary Club Viedma, del que fue socio fundador, le concediera la distinción de “Ciudadano distinguido en el servicio a la comunidad”.

Cabe destacar que el Ing. Gazia fue también miembro fundador de la Cámara de Comercio, Turismo, Industria y Producción de Viedma, cuya Presidencia ocupó en varios períodos y donde logró ejercitar aquella vocación de servicio.

Su tarea en nuestra Comarca, la zona y la provincia de Río Negro fue sumamente extensa. Entre otras importantes actividades figuran las de haber sido cofundador de la Cooperativa de Obras y Servicios Públicos de Las Grutas, así como de la Agencia de Desarrollo Microregional de Viedma y Carmen de Patagones, de la Asociación de Jubilados y Pensionados de  PAMI  de Viedma y zona de influencia (JUPAVI), y de la Asociación Cooperadora del Centro Municipal de Cultura. Asimismo, fue cofundador y vicepresidente de la desaparecida Confederación Económica de Río Negro (CERN), de trascendencia histórica en la provincia.

Como testimonio de su incansable actividad, cabe señalar que con la Cámara de Comercio de Viedma y la Sociedad Rural de nuestra ciudad, coordinó en su momento con las de Patagones y San Antonio Oeste la organización de la campaña pro pavimentación de la Ruta Nacional Nº 3,
desde Pedro Luro a Carmen de Patagones.

Tras conocerse la triste noticia el presidente de la Cámara de Comercio de Viedma, Marco Magnanelli recordó “Pipo, para los que los conocimos, fue varias veces presidente de la Cámara de Comercio de Viedma, y gracias a su última gestión es que nuestra institución se abrió a los jóvenes e inició un proceso en el cual se renovó la estructura”.

“Aquellos, que al igual que yo, tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo, saben lo que significó Pipo para el crecimiento de la Cámara de Comercio y para el desarrollo de muchísimos temas que impactaron fuertemente en la ciudad y en toda la provincia. Un hombre cálido y abierto, de charla franca y profunda que hoy nos deja una enorme tristeza ante su fallecimiento”.
